We've been busy.
Some people at the Welcome BBQ for the Basque students said that Maite and I look like we could be sisters....I think I am the sister that needs to go on a diet. :-)
The students all LOVED the kids. Something about the red hair I think... This is Aitor (eye-tore) getting his pic with Maggie. She was very gracious and let this boy she had never met hold her for a picture. Good job Maggie!
Maite was running Maggie through the sprinkler this evening. It was very cute!
Here are some of the Basque girls hanging out at a fountain in downtown Portland. L to R: Elena, Maite, Lorea, and Irati.

She's here!
Okay, so I have offically moved to '2nd place' in Maggie's life. Maite is her new best friend. She calls her "Hi-tay" and spends her time in the car saying "Hi-tay hand? Hi-tay hand?" - because she wants to hold Maite's hand while we drive somewhere. The kids were very excited to meet her this morning (they were asleep when she got in last night)- the didn't even let her get into the living room before they started giving her all their toys and telling her all about them. I think that she will be able to understand any english after spending 30 days trying to interpret the noises that come out of these two kids. Maite even let them comb her hair this morning. What a gal! :-)
Maggie & Mama....when we were still best friends before Maite came. :-)
Too bad this one isn't centered....

Random Summer Fun
We made the Moffat quartet complete with the addition of another sprinkler ball. I think everyone has one now...I hope the kids like 'em! (It's hard to buy anything different when the ball is the cheapest and seems the coolest...). The kids really liked it. We did get it turned up more as Sam became acquainted with it.
This is my favorite pic, so I had to post it real-size.
We bought bikes and a trailer this week. This has been a desire of Leah's since before she became a Moffat (okay, maybe not the trailer part....but the bike part for sure!). The kids LOVE it. I think their favorite part is wearing their helmets. I'll try to grab a pic of them in their helmets...it's pretty funny.
Sam peaking out the side window.
Sam got a package from G&G Viertell this week. It contained 3 posters- a whale, a shark, and a turtle. These are his obsession right now. I think that elephants are an up and coming favorite also...typical toddlerness....one visit to the zoo and elephants are all they talk about now.
We've been busy since Eric got out of school. We have been busting out some house projects all week, trying to get them done before our Basque student, Maite (my-tay), comes this Friday. She will be staying with us thru the month of July. We are all very excited- Sam is just excited that the 'spare' bedroom is now open (the door has been previously closed at all times) and he can go hang out in there. We got the room painted, trimmed up, and real furniture moved in. No more piles of randomness for us. It's actually looking rather nice in there! We hope you like it Maite! We look forward to meeting you in person soon!!

Ohh, you're gonna love these ones...
The 'bikes' went to the park. Wow, it took a lot longer than Mama thought it would to get anywhere...
Maggie got frustrated at one point. I didn't save her until I got a pic of the sad little girl.
We hit Father's Day on Saturday (when we had more time to play with Eric's gifts...). The kids are helping him open his shop-vac here.
He also got a new set of screwdrivers and some stuff to organize his workbench area. He was very excited about the new and improved workbench organization.
Okay, so I think this is just too funny not to post. We snapped a pic thru our front window this evening (just for you Edd and Lukas). Our across the way neighbors were having a huge birthday party for one of the many kids that frequent the place. We dub the house 'fiesta house' and it's living up to it's reputation tonight. It's the biggest pinata we have ever seen- we especially like the dude on the roof raising and lowering it. The pic doesn't even show all the people...there house is the same size as ours and we aren't too sure where all the people are fitting in there...! Anyway, it was quite the sight.

Back in the saddle again...
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa V. for the GREAT bikes! The kids are LOVING them and they have only gotten to play with them for about 20 minutes before they had to go to bed. 'Bike' is Sam's new fav word and 'fast bike' and 'big bike' are great new things to say while riding. He's on a Diego bike with Nemo pjs on. What a life.
Maggie is enjoying her Dora-mobile and while trying to chase Sam around says "GoGo Sam Go!". Very cute.

100m dash?
I doubt we have the next Michael Johnson on our hands...but the kids think they can run pretty fast these days. Here is a little video of their talents. Please ignore the annoying mommy voice I was sporting at the time. Thanks.

Only in Rockwood?
Only in Rockwood will you find the following:
1. A 21 month old talking on his phone throughout the reading of an entire book.
2. A face this happy with hair this big.

3. Sam putting on a show as "Joseph" instead of watching his beloved Lawrence Welk.
4. A man rollerblading to Salish Ponds with his fishing pole and tackle box in hand. (sorry, no pic of this one.)
