Later, is now.
Sam got a tool set of sorts from Uncle Dan. It included a REAL hammer and a REAL measuring tape as just part of the fun. The hammer has been set aside for a while, but the measuring tape has been a hot commodity. Most things seem to be measuring a '4' or '6'. :-)
A very tired Maggie in her new raincoat with Leah's Uncle David. Quote from David- "She is the cutest little girl I have ever seen. Ever."
Sam and Maggie have already gotten a lot of mileage out of their Cars cars and the floor mat that G&G got them. Nice idea guys.
Merry Christmas...from California!
We are at Leah's parents house in California and loving the blue sky and total lack of rain. We had a great Christmas with lots of family and even more gifts. The kids have been doing well, I am not feeling too sick anymore (minus the current cold I am sporting), and Maggie hasn't had a nebulizer (sp?) treatment in 2 days. Yeah!! Here are some pics of our time so far. I'll try to post more later...
Decorating gingerbread people. Sam sneezed on one of his, twice. We can't remember which one it is, so we are just boycotting all the little gingerbread men.

G&G got Sam and Mags guitars. Here is Maggie testing hers out.
Too cute in her Christmas dress.
This is our Christmas miracle: two 2-year olds smiling at once.

Merry Moffat Christmas.
Well, we left Moffat Christmas last night at 8pm. By 9:45pm I was on my way to the ER with Maggie in tow. She has had a cold and it developed into a massive coughing fit/asthma attack. SO, due to her lack of regular breathing and nasty never ending cough, she had to go in. Bummer. We got home at about 1pm with a diagnosis of an upper respiratory infection (the beginnings of pneumonia) and acute coughing of some kind (aka: we don't want her to officially be asthmatic....so we'll just call it a bad cough right now). The good part is that she was hailed as the BEST child the Mt. Hood ER has possibly ever seen. She did a great job getting checked out by so many people and even sat still thru her chest x-ray....all on her own. Needless to say, we are glad to be home and she enjoyed her Popsicle a great deal.
Quick sidenote: I am glad that I somewhat randomly added the PBS SuperWhy and Sesame Street video podcasts the Ipod a while back....they came in terribly handy while trying to keep a 2 year old on the same bed for 3 hours. Thanks Apple. I love you more today than ever before.

This and that.
Maggie has been grabbing the book I'm reading lately and sitting in my chair to read it. This particular evening she also had to get her glasses before she could sit down and read...just like Mama.
She was very proud of her block creation yesterday afternoon. She spent a long time trying to get it just right and when she was satisfied she yelled "I did it- I did it!!" and told me she wanted to show Daddy (who wasn't due home for almost 2 hours at this point...), needless to say the blocks didn't make it that long, but the picture did.
Sticky sucker faces. Thanks Salvation Army dude.Friday, December 14, 2007
Snakes.
Sam's personality often gets overshadowed on camera by his sister...who LOVES the camera so very much. Here is a nice snapshot of his personality while in his 'happy place' - playing with playdoh.
A new ride
This was the best place that Maggie could find to put the rather large cup of water. I wonder about her ability to make wise decisions....

Zoolights...finally.
Well, we made it to Zoolights. We were able to walk right on the train and the kids LOVED it. Here are some random pics from our time there. Not a single zoolight made it into the pictures. Oops.
The kids are doing a puzzle this morning. They have it almost finished now...."finished" being that all the pieces are put together....not a one is in the right place, but they don't care. It's been a good project for the morning.
Excuses, excuses.

Ohh, the sheer terror of it all...
I used all my preggy energy for the entire weekend this morning and took the kids to the zoo. They've been asking for about 2 weeks now, but the weather has just been too moist to head down there. So today was the day for us.
I have been told many times how you cannot possible determine a child's personality at such a young age (stores, MD offices, etc.)- but I tell ya- I have one thing figured out for sure about these two. Maggie fears nothing....except life without her blanket and thumb. Sam fears most things....even Daddy during a game of hide/chase/tag in the house. Okay, so here is a great example of their fear factors:
Maggie was busy chasing the sea lions across the glass and yelling 'dare dey aw, Mama!! dare dey aw!!'

Sam had no desire to get out of the wagon (I did eventually get him to come down a few steps toward them...but never all the way to the bottom). Here is his 'why the heck did you bring us in here, mom?!!' look. He just sat there with a furrowed brow and stared at the sea lions as if they might jump right through that glass wall and eat us right up.
Ahhh, the contrast between my two darling children.

Wowee.
...and for you out-of-towners: we have had 2.77 inches of rain in our backyard in the last 24 hours, and the storm is only supposed to be about halfway done with it's rain. Sweet.
