Seriously Random Halloween Post.
Sam's new crocs (he wore the tread- ALL the tread- off his old ones....didn't know you could do that...). He wanted us to show them to "everyone". So here ya go, Everyone, I hope you like them!
The costume debut: Harvest Party
Ta-da!! Maggie the Jellyfish and Spidey-Sam-Year-2!! Sam opted for the Venom look this year. He has no idea who Venom is. I love it. Maggie has been just DYING to put her Jellyfish costume together and wear it - so the Cornerstone Harvest Party shindig was the perfect opportunity to do so before Halloween came. (The jellyfish is really just a LOT of hot glue and bubble wrap.)
The oh-so-impressive hay ride- Thanks again, Double Digits!, the party was a blast!

What we've been up to....besides the swine flu.
Cousins. Happy. In Miles' room.
Everytime Kari and Joel are over the kids hunt down these monkeys and insist on wearing them....I wonder when this won't be "cool" anymore....

Sam and Maggie have spend any dry day outside. I think the flu cooped us up too much and they are offically sick of our house. I'm okay with that, I'm kind of sick of them too. :-) Can you tell we're ready to be well again!?!?!
I took Miles out yesterday too. He was (of course) totally wigged out about the grass touching him. But eventually he warmed a bit and crawled a bit.
He's quite the ragamuffin right now. His hair desperetly needs a trim (shaggy doesn't seem to work real well on the kid) and he is all slobber all the time. BUT, his eyes are SLOWLY straitening out and he is responding more to the things that his EI (Early Intervetion) gal is teaching him. We're very thankful for this little turkey (yes, he is a turkey!) and praise God everytime He teaches Miles something new.
Pumpkin Patch 2009
We are here...and alive, believe it or not...! Thanks to our super gracious church body, we semi-survived the H1N1 mess this last week. Without our family and friends praying for us and providing food and medicine for us, I think you would have seen a new, and rather ugly, side of this Moffat family. Thankfully, we are all on the mend and battling some nasty colds now instead.
Here are some pics from our Pumpkin Patch adventures last weekend.

This is the only shot that Miles made it into. I love that Beco! (oh, wait- if you've talked to me anytime in the last 6 months you've already heard that....).

Mommy Confessions.
We are attempting to recover from that darm swine flu around here and for the sake of family sanity, took the kids to the store for a QUICK trip today. While at the store, Miles sneezed. Not just any sneeze, but the kind that even makes the mama want to gag. Dig dig dig....no kleenex in the purse...not even old kleenex....so what did I do? I used the inside of the poor kid's hood to wipe his nose. Note to self, don't put that hood up anytime soon....

Chocolate Mint Parfait Bars
Here's the recipe, as requested girls. (better late than never, right?)
Crust:
1 chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup butter
1 egg
Blend on low until crumbly, then press into the bottom of a greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool.
Filling:
1 envelope gelatin
1/4 cup boiling water
4 cups powdered sugar, divided
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 t. peppermint extract
3 drops green food coloring
Dissolve gelatin into water, let cool. Add 2 cups powdered sugar, butter, shortening, extract and coloring. Beat 1 minute at medium speed. Add remaining 2 cups powdered sugar and blend until smooth. Spread on cooled crust.
Frosting:
12 oz. chocolate chips
3 T. butter
Melt chocolate and butter over low heat, spread on top ONE WAY (It can be finicky at this point, so be gentle). Chill until form and cut into squares.
YUMMY YUM YUMMERS.

Easy to please.
It must be the weather- I've got an urge to bake. So I decided to make some cookies for the first time in MONTHS. I didn't have any chocolate chips, but I did have a bag of OLD York Peppermint Patties. So I chopped them up and threw them in the dough instead. I can't deny my kids a warm-strait-from-the-oven-cookie, so:
Sam took a bite of his cookie and said "Mom, this is the best cookie I ever had!"
Thanks Sam, you just made this Mama's day.
