Our newest family member: Patches!

Say "Welcome!" to Patches, our newest family member! Patches will be with us approximately 2 hours a day for at least the next three months. Patches has healthy eyes and no need for surgery or glasses (right now anyway), but he does need some extra practice time with that silly right eye. So, we'll be patching his left one and forcing his right one to be used more. Isn't Patches a cutie!

Winter? Seriously?

The weather has been SO nice around here, so we've been enjoying the dry warmth as much as we can. Here is some goop/gak time.
Some kids who have recently learned to swing ALL BY THEMSELVES. Yea yea yea!!!!
Miles, sporting his little beanie. He's got some wierd bug right now- or combination of bugs - so it's been a long week for Mama. His issue lay somewhere inbetween an ear infection/fluid in the ears (SUPER cranky and pulling at the ears now), a nasty cold (insanely stuffy and HATES the booger sucking bulb of course), the flu bug (he threw up on me last night), and the Roseola virus (can you say RASH?). Anyway, hopefully this will all be behind us soon...very soon.

Why I'm thankful we don't have a fish on our car.

Today we took Miles to the Ped. Urologist (which was an encouraging appointment btw). On the way out I left ahead of Eric and the twins to get to the car to feed Miles. Eric stopped by the pharmacy to pick up some of Maggie's meds. I finished feeding the baby and eventually spotted Eric and the kids coming thru the parking garage - ready to leave. Sam was holding one of Daddy's hands and and unhappy Eric was literally dragging a screaming Maggie with the other (I think the echo in the garage made it sound worse that it was). Husband and wife made silent eye contact that spoke of the following situation: Maggie was being disobedient (and rather unsafe as I found out later) and Daddy had seen enough, so off to the car they went. Sounds like a "normal" outing thus far, right? Well, just hang on folks...here is where it gets fun:

After getting the crew buckled in, Eric put the car in reverse and then realized that he couldn't go anywhere. There was a lady who stopped her car (for no obvious reason) RIGHT behind the van. Eric got out to see if she needed help. Out of the car came a 60-something lady with an oxygen tank demanding we answer the following questions: "I saw you with that child: Where is she? Is she yours? Why was she screaming? What's wrong with her? I WANT TO SEE THOSE KIDS THAT WERE WITH YOU." My wonderful husband is now inches from her face yelling (yes, Eric was yelling, hard to believe I know) at her that it is none of her business, they are not her kids, and to move her car...NOW." She then tells Eric to open the car of the van so she can ask the kids "Are these your parents? Are they??!!!". I am sitting in the front seat staring at her in total disbelief, Maggie (who is completely calm at this point - not even the normal residual red eyes) looks at the woman through a sip of juice and nods "yes." After some dirty looks, our overly protective citizen made her way back to the car, found drive and took off.

After some mild venting, we both calmed down and an hour later everything was back to usual. But, there were two firsts that happened here: 1. Someone actually pushed Eric to the point of yelling (I wasn't aware that this was possible before today.) and 2. Eric was officially accused of kidnapping...his own children.

Thanks for claiming us Maggie, I'm not to sure what we would have done if you had told her "no."

'lil Uncle Buck Nutty.

So, Uncle Ryan (via Ashlynn and Lorelai) introduced our kids the the phrase "buck nutty" over Moffat summer vacation. Then over Christmas vacation Sam and Maggie started my brother "Uncle Buck Nutty", instead of Uncle Dan. Anyway, here is Uncle Dan standing by his (okay, it's his trainer's) semi. He's recently started driving big rigs for Werner Enterprises. It seems to be a great fit for him, so we're very excited! I just showed the pics to the kids and tried to show them how his truck is "three UncleDans tall"...and Maggie's response was "Hey! Now he's a little Uncle Buck Nutty!"

Congratulations Dan- you've graduated to a bigger truck...but somehow have become a smaller human in Maggie's eyes. :-) Drive safe Bro!

$8.

So we used two library passes and an entertainment coupon and got our family (that's 5 people) and Greg & Andrea and company (that's another 5 people) in the Children's Museum for a whopping $8 total. Nice. Here are some pics of our morning adventure (which, btw, started at IKEA for cheap duvets and some FREE breakfast for all):

Thank you!

Attention mysterious gift card giver:
Your generous gift was a welcome addition to the usual bills that fill the mailbox. Thank you for loving our family and caring for us in this super practical way. May you be blessed richly in return!
Love, The Moffats
