19 days and counting....

Okay, I got the vinyl letters for Mo-mo's room in the mail today. Wow, this could be a new obsession...seriously, it took less than 5 minutes for a pregnant lady (aka: stupid lady) to put them up. Nice. The pic is a wee dark...but check us out- his room is ready to go! Surprise, surprise...blue again.
:-) Someday we'll branch out.

Oh, how brave I am.

Yup. I did it. I took my kids to the store - not in pull-ups- but in underwear. AND they made it home without any accidents....we were only gone for an hour or so, but I am still very proud of them. I did bribe them with a candy bracelet when we got home- whatever works...right? I'm also trying the 'nail polish' training technique with Maggie. Her laziness in getting to the potty on time has been driving this preggy mama insane...so I told her yesterday that if she wets her undies or pull-up, Mommy will take her polish off her toenails. So far, she's dry. We'll see how long this lasts as an effective currency for her.

Funny.

I wouldn't say we are generally huge fans of the forward, but this was forwarded to us from Eric's grandparents and it has us laughing out loud at much of it... We think you Northwestern Transplants (both in and out) will appreciate this the most.

The Pacific Northwest According To Jeff Foxworthy

17. You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.
18. You know that Boring is a town in Oregon and not just a state of mind.
19. You can point to at least two volcanoes, even if you cannot see through the cloud cover.

21. You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 50, but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
22. You switch to your sandals when it gets about 60, but keep the socks on.
23. You have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.
24. You think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists.
25. You buy new sunglasses every year, because you cannot find the old ones after such a long time.
26. You measure distance in hours.
27. You often switch from 'heat' to 'a/c' in the same day.
28. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.
29. You know all the important seasons: Almost Winter, winter, Still Raining (Spring), Road Construction (Summer), Deer & Elk season (Fall).
30. You actually understood these jokes and will probably forward them.

Maggie: "I got my Sammy-Boy"
Posted by Picasa

He's got a Birthday!

Are you ready to meet Miles? Well, I am. His room isn't quite the welcoming place I might want for him yet, but will be after this next weekend. My OB scheduled us for the c-section today. June 18th (Lord willing) will be Miles birthday. I am happy....no, make that really happy. :-) That's only 4 weeks from this Wednesday. Nice.

Men at work.

I told Eric that I am glad that he is such a great husband and father- because Sam is seeking earnestly to follow in his every footstep. Sam helped Eric get the tomato starts planted this weekend. I don't think he ever took his hand off that shovel (unless Daddy did first, of course) and loved that he got to help dig a 'big' hole.

What was Maggie doing you ask? She was watching from afar with her mother....you see, Sam told us it was "work for da boys".

...interesting that he doesn't call making cookie dough "work for da girls".
**Update: Right before I came in to do this post, I placed our old lawn mower on the curb with a 'free' sign on it. That was less than 20 minutes ago. It's already gone. I think that's a new Rockwood record.

Sam at bat, Maggie talks poop.

Grandma Viertell got Sam a baseball bat when she was here. The kid seems to have some affection for that thing that we can't subdue. He asks to play baseball...all day, everyday. He's batting about .300 right now. Not bad for a 2 1/2 year old. :-) Here are some of his 'skills' at work. Maggie is giving some interesting commentary in the background. Apparently a bird poo'd on one of their slides. She finds it rather interesting.

Wowzers.

This fact came on an email I got today and my husband didn't believe it could be true....so l looked up the specifics - and here they are for you:

"The highest officially recorded number of children born to one mother is 69, to the first wife of Feodor Vassilyev (1707-1782) of Shuya, Russia. Between 1725 and 1765, in a total of 27 confinements, she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets, and four sets of quadruplets. 67 of them survived infancy."

Yea, that's scary.
